What is Death Vision?

Death Vision is a free companion tool for Warhammer 40,000 10th Edition. Paste the army list you exported from the official app, and it returns every datasheet you need at the table — full stat blocks, every weapon profile with keywords, wargear abilities, detachment rules, enhancements, and the complete stratagem deck available to your detachment — all on a single screen, with no app install and no account.

Unit and weapon data is sourced from the community-maintained BSData catalogues. Stratagems are sourced from Wahapedia. Both are rebuilt on every server restart, so the app tracks live rules closely.

Lists you submit are saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, shared, or tracked beyond the list text being parsed on the server and returned to you.

Death Vision is an unofficial, fan-made tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Games Workshop Ltd. Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer, and all associated names, marks, logos, characters, and imagery are trademarks of Games Workshop Ltd.

How to use

  1. Open the Warhammer 40,000 app (or any builder that exports plain text — Tabletop Battles and New Recruit both work), open your army, and choose Export → plain text.
  2. Copy the whole export and paste it into the box above.
  3. Hit Submit. Your list is saved in the sidebar so you can jump back to it without re-pasting.

  • Unit abilities and wargear abilities, expandable for full rules text.
  • Detachment rule, enhancements, and the complete stratagem deck available to that detachment, grouped by phase.
  • Core stratagems that every army can use.

Supported export formats

  • Warhammer 40,000 official app — the primary target format.
  • Tabletop Battles — structured header format with + FACTION KEYWORD: lines.
  • New Recruit — standard bullet-and-model layout.

If your builder exports plain text that looks like the example above, it will almost certainly work.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't my unit showing the right weapons?

Weapons are matched by name against the BSData catalogue. If your export uses a shortened or abbreviated weapon name, it may not match. Try re-exporting from the official app, which uses the canonical names. If a specific unit consistently fails, email me the raw export and I'll add a fix.

Is the data up to date with the latest FAQ / Dataslate?

Data is re-imported from BSData and Wahapedia on every server restart. Community data sources typically catch up with Games Workshop FAQ and Dataslate updates within a day or two of release.

Are my lists private?

Saved lists are kept only in your browser's local storage — they never leave your device. When you submit a list, the raw text is sent to the server so it can be parsed into datasheets. The parsed result is returned to you and not stored server-side.

Why is a unit missing entirely?

Usually one of: (a) the unit name in your list has a typo or a curly apostrophe that didn't match, (b) the unit is brand-new and the BSData catalogue hasn't shipped it yet, or (c) the faction is mapped under a parent catalogue (for example, all Space Marine chapters share the Space Marines library). If you suspect a bug, send me the export.

Does it work offline?

Death Vision is a PWA. Once you've loaded the page and submitted a list, the result is cached and readable offline. Submitting a new list still needs a connection so the server can parse it.

Is this affiliated with Games Workshop?

No. Death Vision is an unofficial fan-made tool. All Warhammer 40,000 names, marks, and imagery are the property of Games Workshop Ltd. This tool exists to help players reference the rules they already own.
